Civil CAD Technician (147) (TEMP)

Provide drafting support to designated profit center, working under the direction of engineers and project managers. The Civil CAD Technician will prepare their work product for review by other civil designers, engineers, or supervisor. Teamwork and solid client relationships are keys to success as a Civil CAD Technician.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Plot and print drawings as required.
  2. Base drawing sheet set-up.
  3. Adapt survey drawing to ADTEK standards (i.e. layering) with direction.
  4. Correct labeling, fonts and scale.
  5. Orient the site plan with supervision.  
  6. Set-up borders and title block.
  7. Draft Demolition Plan and verify legend with engineer direction.
  8. Draft coversheet as directed.
  9. Pull blocks for general notes.
  10. Prepare vicinity map.
  11. Ability to obtain available records from utility companies with direction.
  12. Pick up redlines marked up by engineer/designer and landscape architect.
  13. Draft grading with direction given contours and spot elevations.
  14. Create an existing surface based on survey data, with direction.
  15. Pull utility information from topography and existing drawings; and setup pipe networks with direction.
  16. Identify existing water, sanitary and storm systems. 
  17. Pick up redlines marked up by engineer/designer and landscape architect.
  18. Setup profile based on surface data, and create alignments, with direction.
  19. Familiarize self with ADTEK standard details, and jurisdiction details. 
  20. Organize details on drawings. 
  21. Coordinate key plan and details.
  22. Double check your own work for accuracy. 
  23. Study comments provided to you and incorporate into future projects.
  24. Assure that your projects are delivered to the client on-time. 
  25. Project Manager will provide schedule on a weekly basis.  Review and inform project manager if you think you have been under or over scheduled. 
  26. Recognize that establishing good client relations is an important aspect of your job.
  27. Deliver projects within established time periods.
  28. Other duties as assigned.

This job has no direct reports.
 
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have 0-3 years of Civil 3D CAD experience in general building design with a general understanding of construction drawings. A two (2) year degree from an accredited Computer Aided Drafting program is recommended.
 
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
  1. Print and Collate Reports and submittals as directed.
  2. Double check your own work for accuracy. 
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  1. Work requires advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand "abstract" principles behind math.
  2. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  3. Utilize computer programs, such as AutoCAD and 3D software.
REASONING ABILITY
  1. Study comments provided to you and incorporate into future projects.
  2. Become familiar with requirements for local jurisdictions. 
  3. Research existing drawings at local jurisdictions with the engineer.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Work may require travel for occasional site visits.

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Evening and weekend work may be required. Work requires local travel and possible distance travel.  While on a site visit related to this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to varying heights, loud noise, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
